Tonnes of sandalwood were being exported from North Tanna after Cyclone Pam. Sandalwood is normally a major export commodity for the area, but sales peaked after the cyclone when trees were damaged. It fetches about $30-$50/kg. This small community alone might earn over $30,000 this season. Here, the bark is being removed before sale.
